This is not the first version of the Lynnie's Custom Embroidery & More website I have done. As the company grows the website must grow and adapt to meet it's needs. The majority of the site is created with XHTML and the layout and styling is done through an external style sheet. The navigation is an element of the Yahoo User Interface (YUI). The content of the navigation is generated through a MySQL database that is called on using PHP. The front page also offers a scrolling image gallery. The gallery runs automatically or through user controls. The gallery is made primarily in Flash but the parameters and image loading are configured using an XML file. |

The same header, footer, and navigation is used on the content pages as the home page through PHP includes. There is actually only one file to display content on this site. PHP script looks through the database for certain parameters and generates the content as needed. Along with generating this content separate versions of the content page are generated as needed. Updating the database not only updates the content but it can add, delete and alter pages and navigation. The database stores titles, descriptions, and prices while the images are kept on a separate server and called in as needed. |

Jay Street Video Games is a locally owned and run store that is looking at a lot of expansion. XHTML is used for the majority of the mark up and CSS is responsible for layouts and styling. YUI makes up the navigation. The home page has a vertically scrolling banner that advertises prices, sales, and offers information on store locations. The banner scrolls on a timer but can also be controlled by the user. This banner is a Flash file but is configured with an XML file. The site also connects to the store's Facebook feed. |

The content pages are fewer than they once were since I turned the page over. I do offer contracts on site maintenance. What is notable on the content pages is the graphics and descriptions. Not knowing everything about a client's products is no excuse for not having proper information. The appropriate research was done and images aquired to produce the individual product break downs. The images were manipulated or created using Photoshop. The large painting as the background for the site as well as the header were not created by me. |

This is the second version of the Shanghai Grill website. The first was static and the information was laid out using only tables. The navigation and its hover effect are made with HTML5 and CSS3. The links are generated through information stored in a MySQL database that is called upon through PHP. The front page has a very simple slide show that is accomplished using jQuery. There are no user controls but the images load extremely quickly and work on all devices. |

The content of the site is made up of the restaurant's menu items. The menu items, descriptions, and prices are all stored in a database that was created in, and is maintained using, phpMyAdmin. The content is displayed in a jQuery accordion menu. The menu has collapsible sections that resize based on the content within. |

Pacific Grill is a locally owned restaurant. The first version of the site was a static page and the content was hand coded into HTML tables. The information is now stored in a MySQL database and is tied into the sites mark up with PHP. The navigation is mainly made through HTML5 and CSS3 but the content and drop-downs are populated through the site's database. The image gallery on the front page is a fast loading jQuery piece that works in all browsers and on all platforms.

There is only one PHP document that is responsible for the layout of the sites content. The PHP document still contains traditional HTML tables however the information is dynamically popluated through the database. If the database is changed the content within the nav and on the content pages changed automatically with no HTML5 or CSS3 tampering needed. |

A simple site used to promote an authors book. The core site design was done through the author's publisher but it was just an image at first. I was tasked with recreating the site using divs and was asked to make it compliant for as many users as possible. To accomplish this I made sure that both the XHTML and CSS met W3 standards. The majority of the work for this project came after the site was created and running. I was asked to bring more users to the site in hopes that more books would sell. Using Google Analytics and a modest budget for an AdWords campaign over three months I tracked a 75% increase in site traffic and the client was very happy with the report. |

Lindsay is a local photographer and writer. Her pictures and writing do not just show up on her own blog but also in various local publications. When this client came to me she wanted a way to show her work, writing, and also communicate with her fans. A blog was the obvious choice and Wordpress is a very easy to use CMS that allows just that. Different themes and plug-ins were experimented with until one was found and stripped down. A simple clean look is what the client wanted and the site works out wonderfully. A couple extra Flash galleries were created to display some of her photography and are linked at the top of her website. |

A fairly indepth Wordpress site. This site was created to sell custom apparel, namely t-shirts. When looking at options of ecommerce set ups I felt the abilities of wp-ecommerce far outweighed the features offered in zen-cart which I previously learned for a version of lynniesemb.com. The homepage features a scrolling section showcasing products as well as quick links to them individually. |

The shopping cart shows up in a widget on the right side of all content pages. There are links to connect products to social networking sites and the template is set up so that users are remembered. Shipping is calculated based on the total cost of the order so that USPS flat rate shipping can be applied. Tax is charged only for New York state. |
